Battle of the bands

Calling all local musicians! Marine Hall is set to host Fleetwood Riffs, a brand new battle of the bands event taking place on 28 March.

Giving bands, musicians and performers from across Wyre, Blackpool and Fylde Coast the chance to perform on stage, the event has a cash prize fund of £1500. There will be three categories to enter including young bands age 12 to 17, soloists and duos and a final category for established groups, well known on the local music circuit. There’s also a family disco and entertainment taking place between the afternoon and evening categories.

Chris Wyatt, Arts and Events Development Officer at Wyre Council comments, “It’s important we provide opportunities for local Fylde talent to showcase their work in a competitive yet friendly and supportive setting. This event provides a platform especially for the younger bands to have experience of performing in a great venue like Marine Hall and potentially to the biggest audience they have ever played to. Fleetwood Riffs launches for me, a firm commitment to developing youth music in Wyre, which will use a variety of venues both indoors and outdoors.”

Applications are being invited now and the closing date is 14 February. To find out more and to apply visit Tickets to watch the event are just £5 each and are on sale now, to book call 01253 887693.
