Marine Hall will illuminate its historic dome in pink on Wednesday 14 October in memory of local animal rescue volunteer Bailey Lister, honouring his life, legacy and the lasting impact he had on animals and people across the Fylde Coast.
Bailey, who grew up in Blackpool alongside his mum Leanne and sisters Millie, Kadie, Demi and Mylie, was known for his unwavering passion for animal welfare and his dedication to helping vulnerable animals.
In 2018, while still a teenager, Bailey co-founded Hugo's Small Animal Rescue and Sanctuary with his friend Lucie Anyon in memory of a much-loved pet rat named Hugo. Operating from their homes in Staining and Preston, the rescue provided care, rehabilitation and safe homes for rabbits, small animals, reptiles and birds that had nowhere else to turn.
Those closest to the organisation described Bailey as "the heart and soul of Hugo's", dedicating countless hours to rescuing and caring for animals in need. His commitment to animal welfare saw him regularly putting the needs of the animals first, becoming a passionate advocate for responsible care and rescue throughout the local community.
Bailey's work was recognised across the Fylde Coast, with his efforts featured in local media on several occasions. He helped raise awareness and support for animals requiring veterinary treatment and played a leading role in appeals to find missing rescue animals, always striving to secure the best possible outcomes for those in his care.
His compassion extended beyond animal rescue. While a student at Unity Academy, Bailey participated in Blackpool FC Community Trust's Premier League Enterprise Academy programme, demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to charitable causes by raising money and donating proceeds to organisations close to his heart.
Tragically, Bailey died at the age of 22, just two days before his 23rd birthday. His passing has had a profound impact on family, friends and the wider community, many of whom continue to celebrate the kindness, dedication and compassion he showed throughout his life.
To honour Bailey's memory, Marine Hall's iconic dome will be illuminated in pink on 14 October, creating a visible tribute to a young man whose legacy continues through the animals he rescued and the lives he touched.
Dean Stewart General Manager for Marine Hall said:
"We are honoured to light Marine Hall's historic dome in pink in memory of Bailey Lister. Bailey dedicated so much of his life to caring for animals and supporting others, and it is clear from the many tributes shared that he made a lasting difference to those around him. We hope this gesture provides an opportunity for the community to come together to remember Bailey and celebrate the positive impact he had on so many lives."
Bailey's family and supporters have also launched the 'Justice for Bailey Forever 22' petition in his memory, which continues to receive support from across the region.
On the evening of 14 October, the pink illumination will serve as a symbol of remembrance, reflection and recognition of Bailey's remarkable contribution to animal welfare and his community.
